Fake & Misleading Images
Images that use false data, made up scenarios, and facts out of context distort the truth about human caused global warming.
Station Drop Out Fake Image
Ross McKitrick using data suggested by Joe D'Aleo states: "In the spreadsheet I used to generate the graph I construct the average temperature as weighted by the number of stations in each group." This of course is false context. Compare to any NASA or IPCC temperature chart: In the real temperature graphs, there is no bump around 1990. The chart is fake.
Moncktonized Trend
A 'Moncktonized' trend is a term that describes a climate trend chart that has either been manipulated or faked by using incorrect data, or data used out of context. This can/does include using short term data (weather) to misrepresent long term trends (climate). In this graph, we can see the information used to misrepresent context on multiple items. The Moncktonized trend is overlayed on top to show just how far form reality the fake trend is shown. Moncktonized Trend
A 'Moncktonized' trend is a term that describes a climate trend chart that has either been manipulated or faked by using incorrect data, or data used out of context. This can/does include using short term data (weather) to misrepresent long term trends (climate). In this graph we can see that Lord Monckton misleads the reader by showing short term data while ignoring long term trends. The IPCC trend line in not only out of context, it is misrepresented in its entirety. Short-term is weather/natural variation. Long-term is climate trend. Moncktonized Trend v. Reality
Lord Monckton apparently attempts to pull the wool over everyone's eyes by using short term trends (weather) within natural variation to discount the long term trends (climate). He also is apparently exaggerating the IPCC trend in order to trick the reader into thinking the IPCC is wrong. Moncktonized Trend - Ocean Sea Level Rise
A 'Moncktonized' trend is a term that describes a climate trend chart that has either been manipulated or faked by using incorrect data, or data used out of context. This can/does include using short term data (weather) to misrepresent long term trends (climate). In this trend Lord Monckton misrepresents ocean sea level rise. NOTE: The image has been stretched horizontally, probably to show the flat trend myth Monckton is attempting to show. Moncktonized Trend - Ocean Cooling
A 'Moncktonized' trend is a term that describes a climate trend chart that has either been manipulated or faked by using incorrect data, or data used out of context. This can/does include using short term data (weather) to misrepresent long term trends (climate). In these images, you can see again that Lord Monckton has represented short term data out of context (natural variation). The long term climate trend is clearly warming. Source: Monckton/NASA, NOAA
Moncktonized Trend - Ice Extent v. Ice Mass
A 'Moncktonized' trend is a term that describes a climate trend chart that has either been manipulated or faked by using incorrect data, or data used out of context. This can/does include using short term data (weather) to misrepresent long term trends (climate). In these images, you can see how Lord Monckton is misrepresenting the ice extent, which grows back in the winter vs. the ice mass loss, which is rapidly diminishing. We are quicking losing the Arctic Ice at this point.
Moncktonized Trend - Hurricane Data
A 'Moncktonized' trend is a term that describes a climate trend chart that has either been manipulated or faked by using incorrect data, or data used out of context. This can/does include using short term data (weather) to misrepresent long term trends (climate). In these images you can see how Lord Monckton misrepresents the hurricane trend by using a chart that has nothing to do with the relevant context of hurricane strength and trends.
Moncktonized Trend - CO2 Concentration
A 'Moncktonized' trend is a term that describes a climate trend chart that has either been manipulated or faked by using incorrect data, or data used out of context. This can/does include using short term data (weather) to misrepresent long term trends (climate). In these images you can see that Lord Monckton has chosen to misrepresent the IPCC CO2 trend and analysis.
Global Troposphere Temperatures Average
Friends of Science Statement: "The current obsession with global warming is misguided in that climate fluctuations are a natural phenomena and we suggest that adaptation should be emphasized rather than misguided attempts at control." Global Sea Ice Extent
This image is a true image. We have placed it in this section because it is being used out of context. Denialists are stating that it shows no change therefore global warming is a myth. Reality is that Arctic extent is decreasing and Antarctic in increasing, but this is a red herring argument. These ice extent anomalies were predicted. Arctic ice mass loss is a more obvious indicator. Antarctica is predicted to have increasing ice while atmospheric moisture content increases until it's tipping point is reached. SSN-578 Skate
SSN-578 Skate Surfaced at or near the north pole in 1959. Polar winds can push the ice around opening up areas temporarily.
